poetry course @ perkyn’s n15

Tottenham! Bring your notebooks and get cosy with me for some writing with a cup of tea, glass of wine or even a Yard sale Pizza as we learn to Work with Form!

This 6-week course is designed for poets of all levels whether you’re just starting out or looking to push the boundaries of your practice.

Each week, we’ll explore a new poetic form: its structure, its cultural context, and how writers have bent, broken, or reinvented it. We'll do timed writing exercises, close readings, creative experiments, and share our work in a supportive, non-judgemental space. The workshops are built to inspire, challenge, and encourage poetic risk-taking.

You’ll also receive access to a one-to-one feedback session with me, where we’ll look closely at your poems, talk about your creative goals, and find ways to keep growing your work beyond the course.

testimonials

“The poetry workshops were incredible for my writing. Grace really creates a brave space for all poets - beginners and veterans - to experiment and challenge themselves with many different forms of poetry. I learnt how to really focus on an idea and pull it apart, I was introduced to a myriad of poets and got to hear some incredible poetry from others in the workshop.”

— Labeja, workshop participant

“As someone who normally writes scripts, exploring poetry with Grace has informed and improved my approach to my own creative writing as well as being a fun way to spend an hour and 15 mins.”

— Hannah, workshop participant

“We were looking for an engaging and creative outlet for our staff and Grace really helped to deliver on this. The workshop had a number of activities which warmed us up and ensured we felt confident to share the poems we’d written. It was a brilliant way to bring our team together over the pandemic.”

— Shift Learning, corporate client

“As someone with little background in poetry, I found the sessions extremely informative, as well as fun,. Grace introduced us to different techniques for building poems, covering a variety of cultural, societal and stylistic approaches. Highly recommend.”

“Grace lead a brilliant workshop for our team during mental health week. It was so interesting and informative and Grace was incredibly supportive and gently encouraged us to explore beyond our comfort zones. It was a really nice way to connect with colleagues, try something new and unwind.”
